Originally born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 11, 1989, James DeFrances grew up on the eastern side of the state on suburban Philadelphia's Main Line. At age 13 he began singing recreationally and at age 14 his talents were discovered by Nancy Sinatra. Throughout his teens and early 20's DeFrances performed on the east coast, doing notable recorded performances at Birdland Jazz Club and Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City. At age 23, DeFrances relocated to Los Angeles, California to further pursue his career and began a recording project at Capitol Records with Frank Sinatra's old orchestra in 2013. His work in the Southwest region eventually led to contracts with the Beverly Hills Hotel and performances at Herb Alpert's Vibrato Jazz Club, Vitello's Jazz Club and more. In 2016, impressionist comedian Rich Little presented James DeFrances in Las Vegas for his very first Vegas show. In 2021 DeFrances returned to recording to memorialize the passing of his Grandfather Carmen Gigante by recording Ave Maria with the Philadelphia Boys Choir and Wanamaker Grand Court Organ. In 2023, DeFrances recorded his version of the Philadelphia Eagles fight song "Fly, Eagles Fly" which skyrocketed to #1 on the charts after First Lady Jill Biden shared it on her social media.
